Kulbir Vaid has been with the firm in various capacities since 2015.  She is a partner and plays a strong leadership role with our team.

Following completion of her Bachelor’s degree at Simon Fraser University, Kulbir obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of Leicester in 2015. Kulbir then completed a Master of Laws (LLM) at Osgoode Hall Law School. Kulbir achieved top grades in both programs and graduated with an A average.

While completing her LLB, Kulbir also volunteered with the Innocence Project of the United Kingdom, where she collaborated with other like-minded individuals to try and prove the innocence of offenders who claim that they were wrongly convicted for criminal offences. During her involvement with the Innocence Project, Kulbir realized that she enjoyed helping people and providing her legal expertise to assist with difficulties faced by others throughout their lives. Kulbir made it her goal to be the voice for those that cannot speak for themselves during difficult times in their lives.

While completing her LLM program, Kulbir worked with Gene C. Colman Family Law Centre in the role of a legal assistant. Kulbir’s strong work ethic became apparent within the first few months of her employment with the firm. Kulbir then transitioned into the role of an Articling Student with the firm, a role in which Kulbir became more involved in complex family files. During her articles, Kulbir even assisted Mr. Gene C. Colman in a week-long trial, for which she was commended and recognized for her hard work.

Kulbir is a dedicated, detail-oriented, and client-focused lawyer. Kulbir transitioned into the role of Associate Counsel following her call to the Ontario Bar in 2017. Kulbir now has primary carriage of several complex family files and continues to excel with her familiarity particularly in custody, access, and child protection cases. Kulbir is a zealous advocate for fathers deprived of maximum contact with their children (especially young children) and hopes to assist such individuals by being their voice against uncooperative co-parenting partners.

In addition to her academic and professional success, Kulbir is a member of a large family, and she understands the importance of maintaining and nurturing strong familial connections. Kulbir’s strong work ethic and values will no doubt assist her in pursuing her goal of practicing as a family lawyer here in Ontario.
