Parental Alienation Information
Distraught dads, moms and grandparents have sent to me many emails describing how their formerly good relationship with their child was ruined by an alienating parent. I have created this page to aid parents and children suffering from parental alienation, and hope that it provides a good starting point for those who need information about parental alienation.
Each case of parental alienation is complex and unique. This page does not offer legal advice and is not a substitute for advice from a professional who is familiar with parental alienation and who can provide insight into your specific case.
If you think you are in a parental alienation situation, it is often helpful to secure a consultation with a mental health professional familiar with parental alienation. That professional may be able to assist you and suggest strategies to improve your relationship with your children. You may also consult with a lawyer who is knowledgeable about parental alienation. Sometimes (believe it or not!) there is something that a lawyer can do to help improve the situation. In any event, knowledge is power and you should take proactive steps to educate yourself, and find out what options might be available to you.
Since I first posted the predecessor of this page, parental alienation has been receiving increasing attention from the courts. I will be updating links and cases periodically, as the parental alienation jurisprudence develops.
